$80,000 - $90,000 annually, based on experience SK Hospitality Group is seeking a talented, driven, and detail-oriented Sous Chef to join the opening team of Bueno —a highly anticipated, design-forward Latin fusion restaurant and lounge located within a 15,000-square-foot hospitality destination in the heart of the Financial District, moments from the New York Stock Exchange. Bueno is a fun, trendy Latin fusion restaurant and lounge, delivering a vibrant, high-energy atmosphere with bold Latin-inspired cuisine, stylish presentation, and an exciting hospitality experience. We are seeking a culinary leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and takes pride in execution, organization, team leadership, and consistency. Benefits Medical, dental, and vision coverage Life and disability insurance Employee dining and retail discounts Position Overview As a Sous Chef at Bueno, you will support the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring exceptional food quality, consistency, cleanliness, and efficiency. This role requires strong culinary technique, leadership ability, attention to detail, and the ability to motivate and guide a team in a fast-paced Latin fusion restaurant and lounge setting. The Sous Chef will assist with prep, service execution, staff training, inventory, ordering, sanitation, and maintaining the highest standards of food presentation and kitchen organization. Key Responsibilities Support the Executive Chef in managing daily kitchen operations Oversee line execution during service to ensure consistency, timing, and quality Maintain high standards for food preparation, plating, presentation, and portion control Assist with training, coaching, and developing cooks, prep cooks, and kitchen staff Lead by example with professionalism, urgency, cleanliness, and strong culinary technique Ensure all recipes, prep lists, and station standards are followed accurately Monitor food quality and presentation before dishes leave the kitchen Assist with ordering, inventory control, receiving, and proper storage of ingredients Maintain cleanliness and organization of all kitchen areas, walk-ins, prep stations, and equipment Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and food handling standards Support menu development, tastings, and culinary training as needed Help manage kitchen workflow during high-volume restaurant, bar, and nightlife service Communicate effectively with front-of-house leadership to ensure smooth service Assist with scheduling, labor control, and daily kitchen planning when needed Contribute to a positive, team-oriented kitchen culture focused on excellence and hospitality Qualifications 2+ years of culinary leadership experience preferred Sous Chef, Junior Sous Chef, or strong Lead Line Cook experience preferred Experience in high-volume, upscale, or trendy restaurant environments is a plus Latin, Latin fusion, or global cuisine experience is a plus NYC hospitality or restaurant opening experience is a plus Strong knife skills, cooking technique, and understanding of kitchen operations Ability to lead, train, and motivate a culinary team Strong sense of urgency and ability to perform under pressure Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills High attention to detail with food quality, presentation, and consistency Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Professional demeanor, strong work ethic, and passion for hospitality Work Environment & Expectations Fast-paced, high-volume Latin fusion restaurant and lounge setting Fun, trendy, and energetic hospitality environment Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and work on the line for extended periods Evening, weekend, and holiday availability required Work environment includes restaurant, bar, and nightlife settings Must maintain cleanliness, professionalism, and composure during peak service Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds as needed Impeccable grooming and professional appearance required at all times Join SK Hospitality Group in launching Bueno —a vibrant Latin fusion restaurant and lounge bringing bold cuisine, high-energy service, and modern hospitality to New York City's Financial District.
Compensation Details Compensation:
