Job Description
North Plank Road Tavern, a family owned 60 seat fine dining restaurant in a historic Newburgh building, is seeking a hands-on Working Chef to lead our small BOH team. We offer a stable schedule, and meaningful creative input for a chef who loves cooking and leading from the line.
ResponsibilitiesDaily line cooking and BOH leadershipMenu development, recipe creation, and monthly pairing dinnersFood costing, purchasing, inventory, and kitchen cost managementProper food rotation, sanitation, and safety compliancePlating, butchering (meat & fish), baking, and dessertsHiring, training, and mentoring kitchen staffQualifications5+ years progressive culinary/kitchen management experience, or talented sous chef looking to make the transition to chefStrong classic technique and fine dining backgroundReliable, professional, and easygoing leadership styleAbility to accommodate dietary requests (gluten free, no garlic, etc.)ServSafe certification preferredKnowledge of food, wine, pairings, and industry trendsSchedule & Benefits5 day, 40 hour work week (Wed Sun)Dinner service only (4:30 9 PM)Two weeks paid vacationClosed on July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year s DayOpen on New Year s Eve, Valentine s Day, and Mother s
