Innovo offers the opportunity to showcase your culinary skills without the constant stress of restaurant ticket times or late-night shifts. Our chefs typically work four days per week, typically no later than 6:30PM, and rotate every other weekend, making this a rewarding, balanced role. As part of an inpatient drug and alcohol and mental health treatment facility, our kitchen serves patients at a critical point in their lives. Compassion, professionalism, and teamwork are essential. You'll collaborate with the Executive Chef to craft nutritious, balanced menus within budget, serving a census that averages between 35-48 patient s daily. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare high-quality, nutritious meals from scratch in accordance with the established menu and dietary requirements. Follow safe food-handling and sanitation procedures in compliance with health and safety standards. Collaborate with the Executive Chef to execute menu plans and contribute creative input for seasonal or specialty items. Maintain organization, cleanliness, and efficiency in the kitchen at all times. Assist in receiving, storing, and properly labeling food and supply deliveries. Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, leadership, and other departments. Interact respectfully and compassionately with patients and staff. Monitor portion control and reduce waste while adhering to established budget guidelines. Support meal prep and service for breakfast, lunch, and dinner shifts. Participate in ongoing culinary and food-safety training. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or Executive Director. Required Skills and Abilities Strong understanding of scratch cooking techniques, meal prep, and flavor development. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently in a slower-paced, structured environment. Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing needs or census. Compassionate and professional demeanor when interacting with patients and staff. Understanding of kitchen sanitation, safety, and food handling procedures. Strong work ethic and reliability. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required. At least 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen setting (restaurant, healthcare, or institutional experience preferred). ServSafe Certification preferred (or must be obtained within 90 days of hire). Work Environment and Schedule Work schedule is typically four (4) days per week with alternating weekends. Shifts generally conclude by 6:30PM ; no late-night restaurant hours. Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Work performed in a drug-free, recovery-oriented healthcare facility. Additional Information This position is part of a drug-free workplace and requires pre-employment and random drug screening in accordance with Innovo's Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
