  • Part-time, Full-time Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi preparation, and possess excellent knife skills, creativity, and attention to detail. This role involves preparing high-quality sushi dishes, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and ensuring an exceptional dining experience for our guests. The Sushi Chef will also contribute to menu development and uphold food safety standards. Responsibilities Prepare a variety of sushi dishes with precision and artistry, including rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and specialty items Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety in accordance with health regulations Manage ingredient inventory and ensure freshness of all sushi ingredients Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy hours Assist in menu planning and contribute creative ideas for new sushi offerings Train junior staff or apprentices in sushi preparation techniques and kitchen procedures Monitor portion control to minimize waste while ensuring quality presentation Uphold the restaurant's standards for presentation, taste, and customer satisfaction Qualifications Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar culinary role specializing in Japanese cuisine Strong knife skills and knowledge of sushi ingredients and techniques Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper sanitation practices Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Creativity in plating and presentation of sushi dishes Excellent teamwork and communication skills Culinary certification or relevant training is preferred but not required Experience with curriculum development or teaching is a plus for roles involving training or mentoring staff Background in classroom management, working with children or adults, or experience in early childhood education is beneficial if involved in educational programs related to culinary arts This position offers an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Sushi Chef to showcase their skills within a dynamic culinary environment.
