Overview This job is in Irvington! Join our dynamic culinary team with Virginia Restaurant Group LLC as a Sous Chef and become a vital leader in delivering exceptional dining experiences at this new Italian restaurant that will open in October in Irvington. In this energetic role, you will assist in managing kitchen operations, supervising food preparation, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. Your expertise will inspire culinary excellence, support team development, and uphold our commitment to fine dining and hospitality. Responsibilities Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth shift management and efficient workflow including preparation of fresh pasta and pizza dough. Supervise food production and food handling processes, maintaining strict adherence to food safety sanitizing procedures and hygiene standards. Lead and motivate culinary team members, providing guidance on cooking techniques, food preparation, and service standards. Manage inventory control and inventory management to minimize waste, optimize food costs, and ensure ingredient availability for menu execution. Enforce compliance with health regulations, safety protocols, and sanitation policies across all kitchen areas. Support menu development by collaborating with the culinary team to introduce innovative dishes aligned with fine dining expectations. Requirements Proven experience in food production, kitchen management, or restaurant experience within a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated supervisory experience leading culinary teams or managing shifts effectively. Strong knowledge of food safety sanitizing procedures, dietary department practices, and hospitality standards. Familiarity with inventory control, cost control measures, and food service management principles. Hands-on cooking skills complemented by a thorough understanding of food handling and food industry best practices. Fine dining Italian experience preferred; strong background in restaurant management is a plus.
Pay:
$22.00 - $27.00 per hourBenefits:
