Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and highly skilled Lead Pastry Cook to join our dynamic culinary team. In this vital role, you will oversee the preparation and presentation of a wide variety of baked goods, pastries, and desserts, ensuring the highest standards of quality, consistency, and creativity. As a leader in the pastry kitchen, you will mentor junior team members, uphold food safety standards, and contribute to an exceptional guest experience through your culinary expertise. Your energy and dedication will help elevate our pastry offerings and inspire excellence across the culinary department. Responsibilities Lead the preparation and production of baked goods, pastries, cakes, and confections with precision and creativity. Supervise daily pastry operations, ensuring adherence to recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards. Maintain a clean and organized workspace in compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including mixers, ovens, pastry bags, and decorating tools. Package baked items for service or retail sale while maintaining product integrity and presentation. Decorate cakes and pastries with skillful techniques to meet quality expectations and customer preferences. Collaborate with culinary team members to develop new recipes and improve existing offerings for high-volume production. Ensure proper food handling procedures are followed at all times to guarantee safety and freshness. Assist with inventory management by monitoring ingredient levels, ordering supplies as needed, and minimizing waste. Provide training and mentorship to junior pastry staff to foster skill development and teamwork. Experience Extensive culinary experience in high-volume pastry production within a professional kitchen environment. Proven expertise in cake decorating, baking techniques, and pastry preparation. Strong knowledge of food safety management practices and sanitation standards. Demonstrated ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Excellent knife skills along with proficiency in food handling and food industry best practices. Prior leadership experience in a culinary setting is preferred; ability to train team members effectively is essential. Familiarity with catering or large-scale food production is a plus. Basic math skills for recipe adjustments, portion control, and inventory management are required. Customer service orientation with a focus on delivering quality products that exceed expectations.
