  • Januik Winery ________________________________ Sous Chef Reports to Executive Chef Novelty Hill-Januik Winery is a full-service Tasting Room and Events venue located in Woodinville, WA.
Under legendary Washington winemaker Mike Januik, the winery creates award-winning wines, produces world-class corporate and private events, including weddings, and hosts over 40,000 Tasting Room guests per year.
Summary:
We are in search of a talented and motivated Sous Chef to assist the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations, execute private and Wine Club events, and advance our food program. The right person is a culinary artist with a talent for organization and detail, a deep passion for customer service, and a desire to always think bigger. This candidate is comfortable working with multiple departments and managing competing priorities and thrives in an ever-changing environment, while always keeping to the highest standards.
Duties:
  • Support Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen management
  • Assist Executive Chef with development of seasonal menus for Tasting Room (tasting experiences), Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Weddings, and special events Ensure effective inventory control & food ordering
  • Follow regional, national and international food trends and update menus to stay at the forefront
  • Assist with hiring, training, and supervision of Kitchen Staff
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations regarding food safety and health code regulations Maintain regular and thorough cleaning procedures and schedules for all kitchen areas, walk-in cooler/freezer and equipment Oversee safe equipment operation Report any maintenance issues as soon as they occur Lead kitchen staff and ensure execution of private events in Exec.
Chef's absence Work closely with Director of Events and Event Sales Manager to execute private events and weddings in accordance with Event Order and client expectations Participating in Wine Club and other special winery events as required Performing other duties as directed
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 to 6 years related experience in fine dining or culinary arts in a supervisory position Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and evening events Ability to lift 55 pounds and work on feet for long periods of time Must be a motivating team player who can work efficiently in high volume situations Manage multiple events in a day Must have a high level of organizational skills, attention to detail and understanding of leadership Must hold a valid food handlers certification card and have HACCP knowledge Must hold a valid driver's license Ability to work 40+ hours per week, depending on business demand & peak season(s)
Compensation:
