Job Description

The Head Chef is a leader in the kitchen, fostering a climate of mutual respect and collaboration among the staff. They are as enthusiastic about the quality of the food they create as they are about leading their team. This role is responsible for all kitchen activities and a partner in the management of their Stone Tower location. Job Duties Team Leadership Trains, supervises, and motivates the kitchen staff in delivering quality food preparation. Leads the Back of House (BOH) in continuing to develop their skills. Sets the culture of the BOH, ensuring a respectful and collaborative environment. Creates and oversees the BOH schedule, maintaining employee hours and meeting labor goals. Ensures that all BOH staff remain apprised of specials, recipes, and changes to ensure a smooth workflow across all shifts. Sets the production schedule, ensuring each employee is completing their assigned tasks in the workflow. Food Preparation & Quality Control Produces high quality plate designs consistent in design and taste. Creates recipes for daily specials and trains kitchen staff to prepare them. Ensures quality control of the kitchen, checking for adherence to food codes. Approves and polishes the Sous Chef's recipes. Responsible for the adequate staffing of the kitchen in partnership with the Store Manager. Responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen and the meeting of all health and safety measures. Operational Support & Inventory Management Tracks kitchen inventory and leads stocking and ordering for the BOH. Assists the Store Manager by completing assigned tasks. Notifies manager of equipment maintenance needs and submits work orders. Responsible for pricing out menu items. Responsible for timely communication with and management of distributors. Other duties as assigned. While this description aims to capture all duties and responsibilities of the Head Chef position, we recognize that some flexibility is required for emergency situations and potential changes in staffing. Job Requirements Must have a valid Food Handler certification or be willing to obtain one prior to starting employment, at the company's expense. At least 3 years of experience as a Chef or similar role. Experience with schedule management is preferred Demonstrates a thorough understanding of basic online inventory, email, and distributor platforms. Demonstrates exceptional communication and active listening skills. Ability to lift 25+ pounds and perform repetitive motions.
