Part-Time Concierge & Funeral Services Support

James H. Cole Home for Funerals is looking for a talented & multi-skilled individual to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing general support to James H. Cole Funeral services and families but also general communication and support to Directors and Administrative staff across all of our Detroit locations. This role will make sure that families have everything they need for a compassionate service and that applicable logistics are carried out to ensure their loved one's service is managed as smoothly as possible. The ideal candidate will also provide minimal clerical and administrative assistance supporting general funeral services operations across all Detroit locations.

General duties include:

Ensure mission vision and goals of James H. Cole are met and woven into daily tasks and outcomes. Greeting the public and monitoring groups in common areas. Answering questions and providing specific information on funeral and cremation information. Answering phones courteously and in a polite manner. Assisting with funeral, memorial and other services or ceremonies as requested by funeral home clients and management. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds. Ability to work with, lift and be around floral arrangements with heavy scent and aromas. Attendance (primarily on the weekend) and participation in quarterly staff meetings is expected. Prepares for services to include delivering and setting up floral arrangements, chairs, caskets, urns, photos and other personal keepsakes or mementos of client families. Ensures proper care and storage of any of these items.

Requirements:

Previous customer service and/or sales experience. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and databases preferred. Ability and willingness to learn required Certification/Licenses. Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record required. Knowledge, Skills and high level of professionalism, compassion, and integrity. Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills. Professional behaviors and team player approach to workday. Must be available to work

Saturday and Sunday Education:

High school or GED equivalent. Previous experience managing and/or supporting funeral services or professional events and clients preferred but not required.
