Job Description

Overview:
As the Key Holder at our doggy daycare and overnight stay facility, you'll be a key leader responsible for maintaining a safe, caring, and well-organized environment—day and night. This role includes supporting daily daycare operations, leading the team, managing client interactions, and ensuring the well-being of our overnight guests.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision Open and close the facility independently as a key holder Lead daycare and overnight canine concierge attendants during shifts Provide coaching, training, and supervision for new and existing staff Oversee scheduling, shift coverage, and daily operations in General Manager's absence Ensure staff are following safety, cleaning, and pet care protocols Assist with onboarding and training procedures Daycare & Boarding Oversight Monitor dog behavior in both group play and individual settings Ensure all dogs receive proper feeding, medication, and rest based on their schedule Provide evening check-ins and morning care for overnight guests Conduct end-of-day walkthroughs to verify that all dogs are safe, comfortable, and secure Respond to overnight emergencies, if on-call or on overnight rotation Maintain clear records of feeding, medication, behavior logs, and incident reports Client Relations Greet and update pet parents at drop-off/pick-up with professionalism and warmth Address questions or concerns about daycare and overnight stays Assist with bookings, reservations, and client communications Create a welcoming experience for new and returning clients Facility Maintenance & Safety Ensure all suites, play areas, and common spaces are clean and disinfected Perform facility walkthroughs to check for hazards, cleanliness, or signs of distress in animals Support with inventory and supply ordering for daycare and boarding Enforce health and safety guidelines across the team
Qualifications:
1-2 years of experience in a dog daycare, kennel, veterinary, or boarding environment Previous supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred Comfortable working a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and potential overnight shifts Strong multitasking skills and ability to stay calm under pressure Able to lift 40+ lbs and perform physically active work Exceptional communication and customer service skills Confident working with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments Responsible and trustworthy with the safety of animals in your care A team leader who can balance structure with kindness Comfortable navigating overnight boarding needs and emergencies Organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Passionate about animal welfare and creating a home-away-from-home experience for pets
