Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides supervision and direction hospital wide to all clinical areas in the interest of providing appropriate care for inpatient and residential clients. Works collaboratively with charge RNs inpatient and charge MHWs in residential settings to address medical, psychological, and social concerns of each patient/resident.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Vermont RN licensure or eligibility for Vermont licensure. Masters in nursing preferred.2. Minimum of three years experience in behavioral health. Two years of management experiencerequired.3. Computer literate, knowledge of PC environment, typing skills, email usage skills, and ability tocomplete formatted report to executives, managers. and clinicians regarding data and events of previousshift.4. Proven ability to triage and problem solve.5. Proven competence with physical assessment, nursing care and theory, as well as evaluation of thepatient or resident after a physical hold, locked-door seclusion, or involuntary medication event.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Core CompetenciesEstablishes and achieves goals and objectives for the evening or weekend shift consistent with organizational goals.

Assures a workplace environment and culture that optimizes patient care and patient safety to reduce the likelihood of health care errors.

Promotes and encourages a workplace environment that embraces a customer service philosophy in interactions with all patients, visitors, staff and vendors.

Works with hospital-wide staff on appropriate decision making as problems arise.

Provides comprehensive handoffs both verbal and written to appropriate managers.

Communicates pertinent information on critical incidents and sentinel events to AOC.Motivates, praises and redirects staff as appropriate.

Provides ongoing coaching, mentoring, recognition and feedback to all staff.

Responds to behavioral emergencies in the residential units, gets orders for certificate of need (CON) if this is indicated and completes page post-event evaluation of the resident.

Follows all organizational policies and procedures outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manual of the Retreat. Maintains policies and procedures for the inpatient and residential units.

Completes required mandatory education, e-learning courses assigned to improve skills and professional development courses required to maintain competency.
