Job Description
Dietary Director | Assisted Living We are looking for an experienced, dependable, and compassionate Dietary Director to lead the dietary department of our assisted living community. This is a hands-on leadership position. We are looking for someone who can manage the day-to-day operations of a dietary department while also jumping in and cooking when needed. The right person will understand that running a successful kitchen is about more than preparing meals. It requires strong leadership, organization, accountability, budget management, and a genuine heart for serving seniors. Schedule Full-time 5 days per week 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM Days will vary Must have flexibility This is a leadership position and requires being on call when dietary needs or staffing issues arise Responsibilities The Dietary Director will be responsible for overseeing the overall operation of the dietary department, including: Leading, training, supporting, and holding dietary staff accountable Creating a positive, productive team environment Preparing and cooking meals Managing food ordering and maintaining appropriate inventory levels Managing the dietary budget and controlling food costs Monitoring waste and making financially responsible purchasing decisions Ensuring the kitchen remains organized, clean, and properly stocked Maintaining food safety and sanitation standards Ensuring meals are prepared and served on time Managing multiple priorities and solving problems quickly Communicating effectively with administration, staff, residents, and families Stepping in and supporting the team when staffing or operational needs arise Understanding and accommodating the needs and preferences of an elderly population What We Are Looking For We need a leader , not simply someone who wants a management title. You should be someone who can walk into a busy kitchen, prioritize what needs to happen, delegate effectively, manage your budget, support your staff, and still make sure our residents receive the quality meals and service they deserve. We are looking for someone who is: Experienced in cooking and kitchen operations Experienced with food ordering, inventory, and budget management Experienced leading and managing a team Organized and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment Dependable and accountable Proactive and solution-oriented Comfortable addressing problems and performance concerns Able to lead by example Flexible when the needs of the department change Compassionate, patient, and respectful toward seniors A strong communicator and team player Team Culture Matters Here We take our team culture seriously.
