Prep Cooks play an important role in setting the entire kitchen team up for success by making sure ingredients are prepared correctly, safely, and in the right quantities. In this role, you'll follow recipe specifications, prep sheets, cutting procedures, food-safety practices, and labeling standards to prepare ingredients for daily service. You'll also help maintain clean, organized work areas and make sure all products are properly dated, rotated, and stored using F.I.F.O. — First In, First Out. At O.H.S.O., teamwork matters. We are looking for people who stay focused, work efficiently, and are always willing to jump in and support the kitchen team. Responsibilities Prepare sauces, dressings, and other recipe components Prepare proteins in bulk, including items such as bacon, brisket, and short rib Cut, slice, and portion ingredients for service Follow recipe specifications and prep sheets to avoid over-prepping or under-prepping Properly label, date, portion, and store all prepared items Follow F.I.F.O. procedures at all times Monitor product dates and ensure all food remains within approved freshness standards Maintain high quality and consistency in all prepared items Keep prep areas, walk-ins, and kitchen storage areas clean and organized Follow all food-safety, sanitation, and workplace-safety procedures Assist dishwashers and other kitchen team members when business needs require it Communicate clearly with chefs, cooks, and other team members Step in wherever needed to support the kitchen team Qualifications Current Food Handler's Card Previous prep cook or kitchen experience preferred Dependable and punctual Positive attitude and strong commitment to teamwork Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and organization Ability to follow recipes, prep sheets, and food-safety procedures Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment Ability to stand and remain active for five to eight hours at a time Ability to safely bend, reach, lift, and perform repetitive kitchen tasks Willingness to help wherever needed Pay $15.00 to $19.00 per hour, based on experience Benefits & Perks Medical, dental, and vision insurance for full-time employees who average at least 30 hours per week after 12 months of employment Health Savings Account with employer contribution for eligible employees Paid sick leave Paid parental leave for eligible full-time employees Free employee meal during each shift worked 50% employee discount on food and merchandise Access to earned wages before payday through our pay-on-demand program Annual employee holiday party O.H.S.O. came to be when the three of us-Pat, Brian, and Jon-joined forces, blending our talents and shared passions.
