Role:

Brookside Marketplace in Bakersfield, CA is looking for a talented and passionate Cook/Prep Cook to join our kitchen team! Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and quality standards Perform daily prep work including chopping, slicing, marinating, and portioning ingredients Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout the shift Monitor food temperatures and ensure proper food storage and handling procedures Assist in receiving and stocking food deliveries and rotating inventory (FIFO) Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth, efficient service during peak hours Follow all health, safety, and food sanitation guidelines at all times

Requirements:

Prior experience as a cook, prep cook, or in a commercial kitchen setting preferred Knowledge of basic knife skills, cooking techniques, and food preparation methods Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality and consistency Food Handler's Card or ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain) Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player with a positive attitude
