Full-time Pantry/Prep Cook Shift:
SATURDAYS - WEDNESDAYS 11
00AM - 7:30AM Weekends are required. Pay starts at $20.00 per hour Must complete employment application through PAYCOM to advance to the next step! We are a 24/7 facility therefore one must be able to work weekends and holidays as required. All applicants are required to complete and pass a drug screening, physical exam with tuberculosis (TB) skin test, and criminal clearance through FBI and Department of Justice. Prepares ingredients for cooking and service by washing, peeling, cutting, slicing, chopping, portioning, measuring, and assembling food items. Prepares cold food items including salads, dressings, sauces, spreads, sandwiches, cold appetizers, desserts, and garnish items according to standardized recipes, production sheets and portion control guidelines. Sets up and stocks pantry and cold line stations prior to service, including retrieving items from storage, washing produce, and organizing plates, utensils, and supplies. Plates and assembles resident meal orders accurately and efficiently during service, coordinating with line cooks to ensure timely and synchronized food delivery. Stores food in designated areas following temperature control guidelines, product rotation (FIFO - first in first out), labeling, and spoilage prevention standards. Maintains cleanliness and organization of workstations, equipment, utensils, refrigeration, and preparation areas in compliance with state, county, and company regulations. Inspects food, ingredients, and prepared items to visually recognize quality, freshness, and appropriate temperatures. Monitors and documents food holding temperatures for cold items and reports variances promptly. Full Job descriptions may be provided upon request.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Basic math skills, including measurements, conversions, and portioning. Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills. Ability to interpret recipes, specifications, and food preparation standards. Knowledge of kitchen equipment use, cleaning, and basic maintenance. Ability to perform precise cutting, measuring, and food handling tasks. Ability to read, speak, and write English to receive deliveries, complete documentation, and communicate effectively with staff. Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency, accuracy, and attention to detail. Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid California Food Handler's Card within 6 months of hire. Demonstrated knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) principles and food safety procedures. One year of kitchen or food service experience preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed indoors; must be able to stand and walk up to 100% of the workday. Work is moderately to heavy, involving frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of equipment and food supplies weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. Requires considerable walking, bending, reaching, twisting, and crouching. Exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals, heat, humidity, steam, cooking odors, refrigerated and freezer temperatures, wet floors, and moderate noise levels.
