Job Description

The Baby Grand Hotel is the newest chapter from CH Projects, which puts us at the moment where a place stops being an idea and starts depending on the people inside it. We're looking for the full cast and crew including kitchen, bar, front of house, housekeeping, and everything in between. The Baby Grand is on Coronado Island, a place that exists in the in between land and water, escape and routine, nostalgia and whatever comes next. We built this hotel to be felt and experienced to slip into people's stories and stay there, helping form the kinds of bonds and memories that last. It depends on people who understand that hospitality isn't a script, it's an ongoing, imperfect exchange between strangers who briefly agree to take care of one another. Which is to say, we are hiring for the visible jobs and the invisible ones. The jobs where applause happens, and the jobs where it never does but absolutely should. This work is not "family" (a word that has been abused beyond recognition in job postings), but it is communal. It requires competence, curiosity, emotional literacy, stamina, humor, and the ability to care without performing care. It requires showing up on time, yes—but also showing up awake . Not ironic-awake. Not phone-in-hand-awake. Actually present. You do not need to be perfect. In fact, perfection would be suspicious. You do need to be engaged, accountable, and capable of understanding that what we are doing here, feeding people, pouring drinks, making beds, resetting rooms, creating temporary homes….is both deeply ordinary and quietly profound. CH Projects has always been interested in places that become more than the sum of their parts, mostly because of the people inside them. Baby Grand is no different. The food matters. The drinks matter. The rooms matter. But the tone, how it feels to be here at 8 a.m. or midnight or halfway through a long shift when the island fog rolls in, that comes from you. We are opening soon. We are hiring now.

We are looking for people who understand that hospitality is not servitude, not performance, not branding, but attention given daily, until it becomes a place.
