Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appetizing meals for residents in our senior living facility while adhering to dietary guidelines, food safety standards, and resident preferences. This role plays a key part in supporting residents' health, well-being, and overall dining experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and dietary requirements (e.g., low-sodium, diabetic, pureed diets) Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with sanitation and safety regulations Maintain proper food storage, labeling, and temperature control standards Work closely with dietary staff and management to accommodate special dietary needs and preferences Monitor food inventory and notify management of shortages or supply needs Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment Follow portion control guidelines to minimize waste Support special events, holiday meals, and catering within the facility
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous cooking experience in healthcare, senior living, or institutional settings preferred Knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutrition guidelines is a plus Food Handler's Certification (or willingness to obtain) Ability to follow standardized recipes and instructions Strong attention to detail and food safety practices
