The Lead Cook is responsible for menu planning, high quality food prep, ala carte service, presentation, and employee supervision, as well as any other job duties listed below or as outlined by their supervisor. Complies with federal, state, and local standards for community operation. Incorporates Generations Mission, Vision, and Values into their daily work and interactions with others. Growth Opportunities Schedule:
Full-time, available between 6:00 am•7:00 pm Weekend and holiday availability preferred
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED is required Two (2) years of prior line cook experience is required Previous culinary leadership in a Senior Care/healthcare setting is highly desired
SCOPE OF JOB TASKS
Assists in overseeing kitchen operations Prepares all food as outlined by menu, resident needs, and prescribed diets Ensures meals are prepared timely at the proper temperature, attractive appearance, and appealing taste Keeps coolers and freezers clean and rotated Ensures food is labeled, dated, and stored in accordance with local, state and county health department policies Assists in the adherence to maintaining budget compliance Ensures kitchen cleanliness and food preparation according to state and local health department code requirements May train Culinary Staff on kitchen responsibilities Conduct regular inventory checks to ensure kitchen is properly stocked and inform Culinary Director of any necessary food, supplies, or equipment needs Participate in regular Culinary Team meetings and review resident comment cards/feedback to improve quality and operational efficiency for the kitchen Maintain log of all food served, including alternates Partners, trains, and directs daily workflow of kitchen employees Assists in routine and preventative maintenance of equipment and property Establishes and enforces safety, sanitation, and proper food handling standards for kitchen. Recognizes and adopts the appropriate menus in partnership with other culinary employees and Culinary Director to use recipes that meet the specific needs of the residents Resolves food complaints timely and appropriately Ensures adherence to quality assurance processes by routinely auditing meal service, dining, safety, sanitation, and meal satisfaction as it relates to the Kitchen Coordinates services and activities with other departments Plans and executes food needs for catering and special events Other duties as assigned We are an equal opportunity employer and consider all qualified applicants equally regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran status, or disability status.
