Job Description

Who We Are Continental Club Oakland is a historic event venue. We run Wednesday through Sunday — live music dinners, immersive dining nights, rooftop day parties, and packed late-night events. we're looking for a Head Cook to own the kitchen and help us raise the bar. The Role We have a Mediterranean focus — bright, fresh, Levantine-inspired flavors anchor our core menu. But our kitchen needs to move. Beyond our standing menu, we build special menus for events: supper club nights, immersive dining experiences, day parties, and private bookings. The right person loves both sides of that — running a tight, consistent core program and getting creative when an event calls for something different. You'll be the engine of the kitchen: leading prep and service, holding the line on quality and consistency, managing inventory and ordering, and keeping everything clean, organized, and up to health code. What You'll Do Lead daily kitchen prep and service across our Wednesday-Sunday event schedule Execute our Mediterranean/Levantine core menu to a consistent, high standard Collaborate on and execute special event menus — supper clubs, immersive dinners, day parties, private events Manage inventory, ordering, and food cost Maintain a clean, organized, health-code-compliant kitchen Lead and direct kitchen staff during service Adapt quickly — no two weeks here look exactly the same Who We're Looking For Strong cooking experience, ideally with Mediterranean, Levantine, or Middle Eastern cuisine Comfortable running both a set menu and one-off event menus Able to lead a kitchen through high-volume service and stay calm under pressure Organized, reliable, and detail-oriented on prep, par levels, and consistency A creative streak — excited to build special menus, not just execute them Valid California Food Handler's card (Manager-level ServSafe a strong plus) Available evenings and weekends (Wed-Sun) Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs Why Work Here A cool, energetic venue with a loyal crowd and a standout event lineup Real creative input on special menus and the direction of our food program A team that takes the work seriously and genuinely enjoys it Room to grow as we expand our food and beverage program If you cook with care, lead with calm, and love both consistency and creativity, we want to meet you.
