Must work well with others, a team player. Must work weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
JOB SUMMARY
The cook will prepare meals and follow recipes. Duties include preparing ingredients, adhering to the menu, and following food health and safety procedures. Cook, clean, assist other cooks and staff and deliver food in a fast-paced environment. Work may include operating a grill, oven or fryer. Previous experience in a team environment and various cooking methods preferred.
COOK DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
✓ Setting up, cleaning, and organizing workstations ✓ Preparing ingredients for the shift; washing vegetables, chopping, seasoning meat, etc. ✓ Preparing oven, utensils, and grill for shift ✓ Taking orders according to food health and safety standards ✓ Recommending ideas for specials or seasonal dishes ✓ Handling multiple food orders at one time ✓ Monitoring multiple food orders as new order arrive ✓ Dressing order for presentation ✓ Ensuring each guest order has the correct food and sides ✓ Delivering food order to wait staff in a timely manner ✓ Storing all food properly ✓ Sanitizing and cleaning workstations and utensils ✓ Reordering stock and food supplies ✓ Monitoring other cooks and team members ✓ Assisting other cooks in preparing food or helping other team members when needed
COOK REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
▪ Able to work in a fast-paced environment ▪ Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently ▪ Physical endurance to stand for an entire shift ▪ Self-motivated and self-directed ▪ Works well as part of a team and on individual task ▪ Able to quickly memorize complex or multiple orders ▪ High School or GED preferably but not required ▪ Previous experience as a busboy, washer, waiter, cook, or relevant work experience ▪ Legally able to work in establishments which serve alcohol ▪ Able to work early mornings, PM and weekends ▪ Physically able to stand and move during the length of shift; able to bend and kneel through shift; able to lift to 25 pounds or more ▪ Must pass a background check ▪ Able to read and write
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITES
▪ Work productively and positively with other staff. ▪ Must enjoy geriatrics and possess the ability to work well with people. ▪ Must have basic understanding of quality food production, therapeutic nutrition, and sanitation practices.
Work Schedule:
Must be able to work weekdays and weekends.
Possible shifts include:
6:00am-2:30pm and 10:00am-6:30pm . •We are currently looking to hire someone who is comfortable in a fast pace setting, fast worker that pays attention to detail, and is able to communicate professionally with staff and residents.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
New hires will be trained to work various job duties.
Including but not limited to:
Preparing assigned meals and side dishes Preparing salads, sandwiches, and dessert Preparing and loading food trays and salad bar Being a host in the dining room by greeting residents while serving drinks and meals to tables Assist supervisor with ordering supplies and other tasks as needed Assisting with dish washing and returning clean dishes to designated areas Organizing and cleaning merchandise in fridge, freezer, and storage rooms Must be willing to take on additional duties as assigned For more information about Nazareth House, visit our website at www.nazarethhousesd.org

$25.00 per hour
