The Prep Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients, maintaining the buffet of traditional Korean side dishes (banchan), ensuring food quality and freshness, and supporting kitchen operations to provide an exceptional dining experience for guests. (Tipped position) Responsibilities Prepare and portion vegetables, meats, sauces, marinades, and other ingredients according to restaurant recipes and standards. Produce and replenish Korean side dishes (banchan) for the self-service buffet throughout service hours. Wash, cut, slice, and store ingredients following food safety and sanitation guidelines. Assist with marinating meats and preparing Korean BBQ menu items. Monitor buffet presentation, freshness, and inventory levels, ensuring dishes remain fully stocked and visually appealing. Label, date, and properly store food products using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures. Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep areas, refrigerators, freezers, and storage areas. Operate kitchen equipment safely, including slicers, mixers, food processors, and knives. Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries. Support line cooks and kitchen staff during busy service periods as needed. Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations. Qualifications Previous prep cook, kitchen, or food service experience preferred. Knowledge of Korean cuisine or Korean side dishes is a plus but not required. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment. Strong attention to detail and food quality. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Ability to work in hot and cold kitchen environments. Ability to safely handle knives and kitchen equipment.
