Dietary Cook -
On-Call Visalia Post Acute Pay Range:
$18.48-$18.50 per hour, based on experience Bring Your Cooking Skills to a Team That Cares! Visalia Post Acute is seeking a dependable On-Call Dietary Cook to join our dietary team! Help make each day better for our residents by preparing nutritious, flavorful meals that support their health, comfort, and well-being.
Schedule:
On-call, providing coverage as needed. Hours and shifts may vary based on facility needs. Responsibilities Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and portion guidelines. Follow prescribed diets, food texture requirements, and resident dietary restrictions. Ensure meals are appealing, properly prepared, and served at appropriate temperatures. Record food temperatures and follow safe food handling and storage procedures. Prepare modified-texture foods, including pureed meals, as directed. Coordinate with dietary staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, including equipment and work surfaces. Properly label, date, and store food and assist with monitoring supplies. Report equipment issues, food safety concerns, and resident meal concerns to the Dietary Supervisor. Follow facility safety, sanitation, and infection prevention procedures. Qualifications Previous cooking experience preferred, especially in a healthcare, long-term care, or high-volume kitchen. Ability to follow recipes, menus, and special diet instructions. Knowledge of basic food preparation, kitchen sanitation, and safe food handling. Strong time management, communication, and teamwork skills. Dependable attendance and willingness to provide coverage for varying shifts as needed.
