until filled Effective for the 2026-2027 school year, a vacancy for a Part-time Head Cook exists within the division of Administrative Services of the Chester County Intermediate Unit. This position is located at our Child & Career Development Center, Great Valley campus located at 40 Moores Road, Malvern PA.

OF POSITION
Perform all aspects of food preparation, production and sanitation within the cafeteria. Provide good customer service to students and staff and work as a team player.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, directs, supervises and participates in the preparation, cooking and serving of quantity and quality food as per standardized recipes and participate in all aspects of the School Breakfast (60 students), Lunch (120 students), one Head Start Program on site (12 students), 5 satellite Head Start/Child Care/School Program off sites (90 students total), and one charter school (75 students) and adult Café. Maintains accurate production records conforming to
SLP/CACFP.
Record free, reduced students, counts money, complete deposit slips and fills out spreadsheet with accuracy. Responsible for operating a point of sale (P.O.S.) computerized screen as per SLP guidelines while providing a pleasant atmosphere to the students and staff. Responsible for food purchasing including weekly grocery order. Follow proper procedures for receiving and storing all food and supplies. Provide supervision of the kitchen and staff. Maintain a high standard of sanitation and safety in all phases of the food service program. Be familiar with equipment and be knowledgeable about its usage and proper care and ensure that all equipment in the cafeteria is in safe, working condition and notifies the appropriate authority when repairs are needed. To be familiar with the daily menu to be certain if a substitution is made it meets nutritional standards. Train new cafeteria workers and substitutes as needed. Participate in catering activities as needed on/off sites. Perform inventory of supplies, food and non-food items if needed. Responsible for filling vending machines daily. Responsible for attending food certification classes and all other appropriate workshops. Plan work schedules, arrange for substitutes when required, maintains employee time sheets. Perform any other duties assigned by the Cafeteria or Food Service Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education and Experience High School diploma required Knowledge of quantity of food preparation and service. Attention to detail. Knowledge in providing professional customer service. Operation of a cash register or point of sale system. Previous food service experience preferred. Knowledge of the National School Lunch Program preferred B. Professional or Other Required Certifications Food Managers Certification from the Chester County Health Department. Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.

The position requires the employee to lift and or move approximately the following: 1. Between 20 to 35 lbs; consistently on a daily basis and lift up to 40 lbs. occasionally. 2. On a daily basis the employee is required to tray, pre-portion and move steam table pans and bun pans weighing 9 to 15 pounds, up to 24 times a day during a 4 hour period. 2026-2027
