Job Description

Job Summary Our business makes and sells soup! We are a locally owned and run small business with a mission to make the best, most delicious and nutritious soups. We are a production kitchen that produces large quantities of many soups and stews rather than a full restaurant menu. We primarily deliver frozen soups to customers but also pop up at farmers markets and other locales You will be in the kitchen and first learn our recipes and techniques, helping with prep, set up, clean up and packaging, then, if things are going well, move toward a lead cook roll, managing helpers and doing the meticulous cooking of our soups and stews. The business is small, so the job is part time at first, but as the business grows we will be able to offer more hours. You will do everything at first, from cook to clean, but as the business grows over months and years, hires that have been there from the beginning (now), will grow with the business and take on more responsibility and do some management of new hires and focus on the consistent production of our soups. Duties Prepare and cook large quantities of soups, stews, and other meal items following established recipes and dietary guidelines. Prep food, cut vegetables, clean the kitchen, do dishes, sweep, mop just like we all do. Operate kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, mixers, and food processors safely and efficiently Maintain strict food safety standards by adhering to sanitizing procedures, proper food handling, and storage protocols Execute food production tasks including braising, poaching, roasting, simmering, sauteing, and other cooking techniques to ensure high-quality meals Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during high-volume meal service periods Skills Proven experience in food preparation within a fast-paced environment such as a restaurant or catering setting Strong knife skills and proficiency in various cooking techniques including braising, poaching, grilling, and meal assembly Knowledge of food safety management practices and sanitizing procedures to uphold health standards Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently under pressure Experience with recipe adherence to maintain consistency and quality in meal production Familiarity with dietary aide responsibilities and accommodating special dietary requirements Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude toward supporting a collaborative kitchen environment This role is ideal for passionate culinary professionals eager to master the world of soups and stews, and who wants to grow with a business .
