TOWN OF ENFIELD JOB DESCRIPTION SOCIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT COOK

Part Time or Substitute:
Up to an average of 28 hours per week depending on location and business needs. Hours may include special events, weekend and Holiday shifts. This may be considered an essential position as the meal service may be contracted and required daily regardless of weather conditions, etc.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Responsible for all aspects of food service including food inventory review, food preparation, meal service and meal service clean up.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works independently under the direction of the Food and Nutrition Program Manager and/or his/her designee.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
May oversee meal service volunteers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Regular & punctual attendance. Responsible for maintaining meal service safety standards consistent with local, state and federal health guidelines. Follows established menu and prepares meals accordingly. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the cleanliness of all meal preparation areas, food service areas, kitchen equipment and food storage areas as necessary to meet health standards.

Performs other related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL
AND ABILITY
Knowledge of and ability to cook; knowledge of various kitchen appliances; ability to deal with seniors; ability to be creative; knowledge of state requirements for food preparation .
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
High school completion or high school equivalency diploma (GED) and three (3) years of meal preparation experience in an institutional food service environment required or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
