Join our Team! The Big Chill 30A is a family friendly entertainment complex located on historic 30A, nestled between Alys Beach and Seaside. Our venue hosts 5 restaurants, 3 bars, retail shops, an arcade, an amphitheater for live music and a 25' LED Jumbotron for sports and movies. We are open year-round, from 7am to 10pm. We are now hiring for the spring/summer season! Open positions include dedicated BBQ Cooks to join our kitchen team at Local Smoke. The BBQ Cook will work alongside our chefs, focusing on grilling, smoking, and roasting meats while ensuring that food is prepared to perfection. If you enjoy working with fire, smoke, and bold flavors, and have a passion for BBQ, this position is ideal for you! We offer both full time and part time positions for students and seasonal employees.
Key Responsibilities:
Grill and Smoke Meats:
Assist in grilling, smoking, and roasting meats such as brisket, ribs, chicken, and sausages, ensuring each dish is prepared to the required standards.
Food Preparation:
Marinate, season, and prepare BBQ meats and other ingredients for cooking, following set recipes and techniques.
Maintain Equipment:
Properly operate and maintain BBQ equipment, including smokers, grills, and roasters, ensuring cleanliness and safety at all times.
Monitor Cooking Times:
Keep a close eye on cooking times, temperatures, and ensure meat is cooked to the appropriate doneness and flavor profile.
Consistency:
Ensure all BBQ dishes are consistent in flavor, appearance, and portion size, maintaining high-quality standards.
Stock and Inventory:
Assist with inventory checks, stock rotation, and ensure BBQ ingredients and supplies are available and stored properly.
Cleanliness:
Keep workstations, grills, and kitchen areas clean and organized, adhering to all health and safety guidelines.
Teamwork:
Work closely with other cooks and kitchen staff to ensure efficient service, especially during busy periods.
Customer Service:
Interact with customers, sharing your passion for BBQ and answering any questions.
Qualifications:
Previous experience with specific BBQ styles and cooking techniquesServeSafe or Food Handler's certification (or must be willing to attain)Effective communication skills Basic knife skills and general kitchen prep experienceAbility to lift 30+ lbs Ability to work standing for 8+ hours
