Job Description

JOB PURPOSE
Under direction of supervisor(s), the Cook prepares foods to aka standards and expectations, using safe food handling practices and skills, and maintains a clean and safe working environment in his/her assigned station.
JOB SUMMARY
Professionally prepares foods that meet company's expectations for flavor, aroma, visual appeal and cost effectiveness. Safely uses kitchen equipment. Prepares foods from standard recipes. Measures and maintains food quality throughout the service period. Stores and holds foods according to standards and safe food handling practices.
TEAM MEMBER REQUIREMENTS
Willingness to accept the most effective role. Function as a representative of the Korman culture and standards to all Team Members and our residents. Maintains regular attendance in compliance with the Korman standards. Approach all encounters with residents and Team Members in a friendly, service-oriented manner. Promotes a safe, secure and healthy work environment. Maintains Resident/guest privacy and confidentiality by protecting all personal information. Team Member should have intimate knowledge of surrounding area including but not limited to: restaurants, retail, arts, cultural activities, etc. Familiar with emergency and safety procedures for your position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Read and familiarize yourself with all service manuals and handbooks. Provides food preparation assistance by washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding vegetables and fruits; cleaning, cutting, and grinding meats, poultry, and seafood, and other preparation duties as assigned by supervisor(s). Prepares all foods according to recipe, tasting and adjusting flavor profile with assistance from supervisor(s). Follows safe food handling practices and procedures. Controls recipes by weighing and measuring designated ingredients. Assists with food preparation duties by carrying pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from workstations, stove, and refrigerator, as directed. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by cleaning work areas, equipment and utensils; segregating and removing garbage; steam-cleaning or hosing garbage containers; following sanitation standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. Keeps supplies and foodstuffs ready by inventorying stock; requisitioning supplies and foodstuffs; verifying receipt; storing. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. Enhances kitchen and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Other duties as assigned.
DESIRED SKILLS
Demonstrated strong guest service skills. Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills. Demonstrated energetic, self-motivating and a "can do" positive attitude. Proficiency in English (written and oral). Food Handlers Licensed preferred. At least 2 years of previous cook experience preferred.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school degree or equivalent. Ability to be flexible with work schedule including nights, weekends and holidays. Meticulous attention to detail
Skills Needed:
Motivational, verbal communication, written communication and manageability.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Sits, stands, bends, stretches, lifts items and moves intermittently during working hours.
