Summary Responsible for the preparation of desirable and healthy food for residents, employees and guests under sanitary conditions as required by The Timbers of Blackwell Creek policies and state licensure and health regulations. Assist in maintaining a positive physical and social environment for the residents. Essential Responsibility Ability to prepare palatable foods that are appetizing in appearance. Knowledge of safety and sanitary requirements. Ability to learn basic tasks and follow written and verbal instructions. Pleasant, friendly and helpful at all times ensuring proper and timely service. Well-groomed and ability to follow dress requirements. Assist Food Service management to ensure food is prepared and cooked in a nutritional, appetizing fashion and presented in an attractive manner. Use proper food handling and sanitation practices during all preparation and cooking activities. Clean, wipe and sanitize surfaces and objects (e.g. door knobs, appliances, countertops) with disinfectant using approved methods and cleaning agents often each shift. Regular and thorough hand-washing. Communicate with staff and residents and document concerns, suggestions or menu changes. Assist in serving food at mealtime and clearing tables. Ensure all utensils, dishes, equipment, work areas and floors are cleaned properly and in a timely manner and adhering to infection control, foodborne illness prevention, harmful chemical handling, sanitation and fire and safety procedures. Store food properly. General Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Skilled in caring for residents with memory impairments and secondary diagnosis. Ability to work with the elderly in a courteous and friendly manner, demonstrating patience and compassion. Strong knowledge and understanding of state regulations Ability to read and write in
English Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Technical or Professional License Certifications:
CNA preferred
Experience:
1-2 years of related food service experience in a senior living facility, hospital, school cafeteria, or similar institutional or community-based setting strongly preferred.
