This versatile role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen environment and is comfortable supporting multiple kitchen and dining functions. As a Cook-Float, you will assist with meal preparation, hot line service, dishwashing, food deliveries, sanitation, and overall kitchen operations to ensure our residents receive high-quality meals and outstanding service. Duties Prepare hot food items according to recipes, portion standards and menu specifications. Assist with preparing alternative meal options when menu items run low Support employee meal service preparation as needed. Assist with basic pantry prep including peeling, chopping and simple food preparation tasks Ensure food quality, presentation, and proper portion control during meal service. Support kitchen workflow to ensure smooth and timely food production. Assist with receiving deliveries and stocking food and kitchen supplies appropriately. Help monitor daily food inventory and minimize waste Re-stock kitchen supplies and assist as a runner during service. Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment according to sanitation standards Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, workstations and food preparation areas Empty trash, break down boxes and maintain clean waste disposal areas. Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout kitchen and storage areas. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in food preparation, cooking techniques, and knife skills. Experience working in restaurant or food industry environments, including fine dining or catering settings. Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with menu planning, meal preparation, and food service operations. Kitchen experience that includes food industry best practices and culinary techniques is preferred. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively within diverse teams.
