Job Description

COOK- MENTAL HEALTH FACILITY
Thornton Heights Terrace Chicago Heights, IL Job Details Full-time $18 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Qualifications Kitchen health and safety standards Food service health code compliance Food service cleaning Food safety sanitizing procedures Accommodating special dietary needs Full Job Description Located in the southwest suburb of Chicago Heights, our Specialized Mental Health Rehabilitation Facility serves 210 ambulatory adults. Cafeteria style service takes place in a central dining room for three meals each day; there are, of course, snacks and special events outside of this area. We are looking for a personable and energetic individual to cook and prepare food according to pre-planned menu and recipes, as well as to help residents make their choices in accordance with their preferences and/or dietary prescriptions. As a Public Health licensed facility, knowledge of serving, sanitation and storage standards are a necessity. However, we are happy to refresh any personal gaps. This is not exactly like cooking or serving at home, so experience in dealing with large groups would be helpful. All of our residents have a history of living with mental illness, and sometimes their requests and demands may become a little too well known. Maintaining an understanding, friendly, and professional demeanor is always in style! This full time position works Thursday and Friday 11am-7:30pm and Saturday, Sunday and Monday 6am-2:30pm; with Tuesday and Wednesday off. Since we operate on a 24/7 basis, your flexibility is always appreciated.
