The Line Cook is an essential part of the kitchen team at Forest Hills Country Club, responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This position requires an individual who is skilled in working efficiently under pressure, following recipes, and ensuring food safety and cleanliness standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation:
Prepare and cook dishes according to the menu specifications, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish.
Station Setup and Maintenance:
Set up and organize cooking stations with all necessary ingredients and equipment for smooth service. Clean and maintain workstations throughout the shift.
Cooking:
Cook food to order, ensuring proper cooking techniques, temperature, and presentation. Ensure all food is prepared to meet the club's high culinary standards.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with fellow line cooks, servers, and kitchen management to ensure efficient service. Assist with training new kitchen staff when necessary.
Quality Control:
Monitor the quality and freshness of ingredients and the final product, ensuring food safety standards are met. Correctly portion, arrange, and garnish food before serving.
Inventory Management:
Assist with maintaining inventory levels and ensure proper storage of ingredients. Notify kitchen management of any shortages or issues with supplies.
Cleanliness:
Keep work areas clean and sanitized according to health and safety regulations. Maintain a safe working environment and ensure all equipment is cleaned and maintained properly.
Customer Service:
Maintain a positive, respectful, and cooperative attitude with fellow staff and club members. Ensure guests' food preferences are met and prepare special orders as requested.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a similar line cook position or culinary environment is preferred. Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety standards. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining high standards of quality. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to follow instructions, recipes, and cooking techniques precisely. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the club's schedule. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Culinary school or relevant training is a plus. Must possess or be willing to obtain food handler certification.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks that require physical strength and stamina. Ability to work in a hot, noisy, and sometimes crowded environment.
