Overview Join our vibrant team as a Childcare Cook, where your culinary skills will play a vital role in nurturing young minds and fostering healthy eating habits. In this energetic and rewarding position, you will prepare nutritious, appealing meals tailored to children's dietary needs while maintaining a safe and sanitized kitchen environment. Your creativity in menu planning and expertise in food preparation will contribute to a positive and supportive childcare setting, ensuring every child receives delicious and wholesome meals that support their growth and development. Responsibilities Prepare and serve balanced, nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines and menu plans Plan menus that incorporate a variety of healthy ingredients, catering to specific dietary restrictions and preferences Ensure all food handling, storage, and preparation adhere to strict food safety sanitizing procedures and sanitation standards Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, poaching devices, braising pots, and food production machinery Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and portion control during meal preparation Follow recipe adherence closely to ensure consistency across all meals served Support high-volume food production for large groups while maintaining efficiency and quality standards Requirements Proven experience as a dietary aide or cook within childcare facilities or similar settings Strong background in menu planning, food preparation, and culinary techniques such as grilling, braising, poaching, and food safety management Knowledge of food industry best practices including food handling, sanitizing procedures, and operating commercial kitchen equipment Experience with high-volume production environments or catering is highly desirable Excellent knife skills and familiarity with various cooking methods to ensure meal variety and nutritional value Ability to follow detailed recipes precisely while managing multiple tasks efficiently Prior experience working in restaurant or food service environments is a plus Demonstrated commitment to food safety standards and proper sanitation practices This role offers an exciting opportunity to combine your culinary expertise with your passion for supporting children's well-being.
