Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Head Cook to join our team at East Perry Elementary. This full-time position involves overseeing the daily food preparation and kitchen operations, ensuring that all meals are nutritious, safe, and appealing to our students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking, a commitment to food quality, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines and student preferences. Supervise kitchen staff, providing training and guidance to ensure high standards of food safety and hygiene. Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and maintaining appropriate stock levels to ensure efficient kitchen operations. Collaborate with school administration to develop menus that meet nutritional standards and accommodate special dietary needs. Monitor food preparation and presentation to ensure consistency and quality in every meal served. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas, adhering to health and safety regulations. Assist in budgeting and cost control measures to keep food service operations within financial guidelines. Engage with students and staff to gather feedback on meals and make adjustments as needed to improve satisfaction. Stay updated on food trends, nutritional guidelines, and best practices in school food service. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; culinary degree or relevant certification preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a commercial kitchen, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role. Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to create and execute diverse menus that cater to various dietary needs. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively. Proficiency in kitchen equipment and cooking techniques. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and occasional weekends. Passion for working with children and promoting healthy eating habits.
