Kitchen Manager Position Overview Honey Brake Lodge, one of the nation's premier year-round outdoor recreation lodges, is seeking a dedicated Cook.
The Cook plays a vital role in delivering the elevated dining experience Honey Brake Lodge is known for. Working under the direction of the Kitchen Manager, this position is responsible for preparing high‑quality meals, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and organization, and supporting smooth daily operations for guest dining, and staff meals. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being part of a team that creates unforgettable guest experiences. Key Responsibilities In this role, the Cook supports the Kitchen Manager by handling all aspects of food preparation, ensuring each dish is executed according to Honey Brake's recipes, quality standards, and presentation expectations. The Cook manages their assigned kitchen station throughout service following directives from KM, setting it up efficiently, maintaining cleanliness and organization during peak periods, and breaking it down properly at the end of each shift. Consistency is essential, and the Cook is responsible for upholding Honey Brake's high standards for food quality, portioning, and timing. The role also requires strict adherence to sanitation and safety practices, including proper food handling, storage, and equipment use. Collaboration is central to the kitchen's success, so the Cook works closely with the Kitchen Manager, and fellow team members to maintain smooth operations and a positive, team-first environment. Additional responsibilities include assisting with inventory tasks such as receiving deliveries, rotating stock, and minimizing waste. Through consistent execution and attention to detail, the Cook contributes directly to the lodge's reputation for exceptional dining and unforgettable guest experiences. Qualifications Proficient in cooking techniques and knife-handling skills. Ability to read, speak, and understand intermediate-level cooking directions. Commitment to quality service and strong food and beverage knowledge. Understanding of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures. Ability to work in a team environment and remain calm under pressure. Availability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays. Physical Demands Ability to stand for extended periods. Capability to move and transport food carts, equipment, and supplies. Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently. Comfortable working in extremely hot or cold environments. Work Conditions Fast-paced kitchen environment with high-volume food preparation. Exposure to hot stoves, ovens, grills, and cold storage areas. Extended periods of standing, bending, and lifting heavy items. Requires flexibility in scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Interaction with guests, staff, and management in a dynamic hospitality setting. Adherence to strict food safety and sanitation regulations. Occasional outdoor cooking or catering events. Education & Experience Requirements ServSafe Manager certification preferred Previous kitchen experience. Ability to follow instructions.
