Job Description
Position Overview Mudflats Bar & Grill at Barnacles Resort is looking for a skilled, dependable Cook to join our lakeside kitchen team on beautiful Mille Lacs Lake. In this role you will prepare quality food in a fast-paced resort kitchen, ensuring every dish that leaves the line meets our standards for taste, presentation, and consistency. You will report directly to the Working Restaurant Manager and play a key part in creating memorable dining experiences for resort guests and local regulars alike. Key Responsibilities Food Preparation & Line Operations Prepare and cook menu items to recipe specifications, including appetizers, entrees, and sides Maintain proper station setup and ensure all ingredients are prepped and ready before each service Execute tickets accurately and efficiently during busy service periods, coordinating with front-of-house staff Monitor food quality, portion sizes, and plate presentation on every dish Kitchen Safety & Cleanliness Follow all food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with Minnesota Department of Health regulations Maintain a clean, organized workstation and shared kitchen areas throughout each shift Properly label, date, and store all food items to minimize waste and prevent spoilage Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance needs to the manager Teamwork & Communication Communicate clearly with the manager and front-of-house team to ensure smooth, timely service Support fellow kitchen staff during rushes and assist with opening and closing side work Participate in special events, resort promotions, and peak-season operations Adapt quickly to menu changes, daily specials, and guest dietary requests Qualifications Required Minimum 1 year of cook or line cook experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting Knowledge of fundamental cooking techniques, knife skills, and kitchen equipment Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays — especially during the busy summer season Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs in a kitchen environment Preferred ServSafe Food Handler certification or equivalent food safety training Experience with resort, supper club, or high-volume seasonal hospitality kitchens Familiarity with POS systems and kitchen display or ticket systems Genuine enthusiasm for lake-life culture and delivering quality food in a welcoming atmosphere Compensation & Benefits $ 18 to $20 per hour Seasonal performance bonus eligibility Opportunity to work at a popular destination on
