Cook Growing Generations CDC Full Time Requirements:
Our center is growing and we are looking to add to our team!
Job Description:
Able to provide a safe, clean, healthy food service environment, prepare and deliver food on a timely basis, develop menus in accordance with the policies and procedures of the state guidelines and Growing Generations premier expectations. Willing to learn or have experience in the purchasing and maintenance of food and materials needed to promote children's health and well-being.
Additional Position Requirements:
Has previous experience working with young children and in a commercial kitchen Takes pride in the development and implementation of an age appropriate menu and recipes Is self-motivated, good time management , reliable, kind, and nurturing Communicates with skill to children, parents, and coworkers Maintain and run a kitchen that is to standard Flexible to the hours and schedule of work, must be willing to work any time between 6:00am-6:00pm, primarily 6:00am-3:30pm Willing to learn about state accreditation requirements for the center and continue to follow and maintain licensing requirements Maintains a particular awareness of children that have allergies and food restrictions. Ensures food service area and food is free of nuts, nut products or food items that have been processed in a facility that also processes nut products according to the policies and procedures of Growing Generations. Checks all food labels upon receipt to ensure compliance with this requirement Follows the daily menu prepared in collaboration with or by the Executive Director Follows portion control standards for lunch and snacks in preparations Is adaptable and implements changes in menus, if instructed to do so Ensures that each meal is ready to be served when scheduled Assists with ordering food and is able to calculate the amount needed. Maintains an orderly, clean and safe kitchen area at all times, including the proper maintenance of equipment Attends all required staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions Maintains overall professional personal appearance adhering to the guidelines offered in the Growing Generations Employee Handbook Assists in other capacities that Director determines is necessary. Food Manager/ Serve Safe Certified or willing to become certified
Qualifications:
  • Must pass the applicant background study required by the Department of Human Services
  • Must have documentation of U.S. Citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Must meet the qualifications of a lead teacher as defined under the department of Human Services Rule 3 requirements (qualifying college credits required and previous experience preferred) as well as meeting state requirements for accreditations
  • Must have the physical abilities to perform the following job duties
  • Must be able to lift or carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to speak and be understand under normal conditions
  • Must be able to see and read newsprint with or without corrective lenses
