Job Description

Americare Senior Living is seeking a Dietary Cook to prepare nutritious, appealing meals for residents in our senior living community. In this role, you'll follow planned menus and individual diet orders, safely prepare and portion meals, and maintain high standards of sanitation and food safety. You'll support resident-centered care by honoring preferences, assisting with special diets, and working closely with nursing and care teams. Responsibilities include food prep, cooking, plating, dishwashing support, inventory rotation, and cleaning kitchen areas. Responsibilities Prepare and cook meals according to menus, recipes, and resident diet orders Ensure food quality, taste, and presentation meet community standards Follow therapeutic and modified diet guidelines for residents Maintain proper food handling, sanitation, and temperature control Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, work areas, and storage Assist with dishwashing and overall kitchen cleanup as needed Rotate and store food and supplies to ensure freshness and reduce waste Communicate with nursing and care teams about resident dietary needs and preferences Monitor inventory levels and report supply needs to supervisor Support a resident-centered dining experience with courtesy and respect Required Skills Menu planning within diet guidelines Large-batch cooking Safe food handling and sanitation Knowledge of therapeutic diets Kitchen equipment operation Time management and organization Inventory and stock rotation Allergen and cross-contamination control Temperature logging and HACCP basics Team communication in healthcare setting
