Job Description
Overview Join our vibrant childcare team as a Childcare Center Cook/Breaker, where your culinary skills will directly impact the well-being and happiness of the children in our care. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing meals and snacks that meet dietary guidelines while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment. Your energy and attention to detail will help foster a positive dining experience for young learners, supporting their growth and development through healthy eating habits. Duties Prepare and serve balanced meals and snacks in accordance with menu plans and dietary requirements. Follow food safety sanitizing procedures to ensure a hygienic kitchen environment at all times. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, poaching kettles, braising pans, and food production appliances. Assist with menu planning by adhering to nutritional standards and incorporating variety to meet children's dietary needs. Handle food preparation tasks such as chopping, mixing, cooking, grilling, braising, poaching, and food handling with precision. Maintain accurate records of food inventory, meal counts, and sanitation logs to ensure compliance with health regulations. Support high-volume food production during meal times while maintaining quality standards and recipe adherence. Skills Proven experience as a dietary aide or in food service within childcare or similar settings. Strong culinary skills including knife techniques, food safety management, and recipe adherence. Experience with menu planning tailored to children's nutritional needs and dietary restrictions. Knowledge of food industry best practices such as sanitizing procedures, food handling safety protocols, and operating commercial kitchen equipment. Ability to work efficiently in high-volume production environments with excellent time management skills. Familiarity with catering or fine dining experience is a plus for creating appealing meals for children.
