Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Prep Cook to join our Daycare and Preschool team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a strong understanding of food safety and handling practices. As a Prep Cook, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently, supporting the chefs in delivering high-quality meals to our students. Responsibilities Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, and measuring as required for various dishes. Assist in the cooking process by following recipes and instructions from the head chef. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper storage of food items. Adhere to food safety standards and regulations to ensure the health and safety of all guests. Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including knives and other culinary tools. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation of meals during service hours. Support the dietary department by preparing meals that meet specific dietary needs when necessary. Experience Previous experience as a Prep Cook or in a similar role within a restaurant or food service environment is preferred. Familiarity with culinary techniques and food preparation methods. Knowledge of food handling practices and food safety regulations. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team. A background as a dietary aide is a plus but not required.
