Job Description

Kitchen Assistant:
1. Performs the necessary preparatory work for cooking meals. 2. Executes menus established by the Lead Cook, cooking meals and preparing snacks for church functions and the childcare facility. 3. Cleans and maintains the kitchen according to Health Department standards, including washing dishes, storing kitchen supplies, cleaning all kitchen surfaces, mopping floors, and putting out trash upon completion of each food service activity. 4. Cleans the walls, stoves, refrigerators, warmers, pantry, cooler, and freezer every other day. 5. Prepares beverages as necessary; sets up for luncheons and other meals. 6. Maintain temperature chart for refrigerator and freezer. 7. Maintain pantry inventory for satellite kitchen 8. Assist with ordering of food items as needed 9. Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requires and combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the 12th grade and 1-3 years of food service preparation experience. Formal training in culinary arts preferred. Will train for ServSafe certification, if not already obtained. In addition to formal training and experience, the position requires the spiritual gift of service and passion for preparing meals and serving others; the ability to meet deadlines; and the ability to work harmoniously with others.
