Job Description
Job Summary The Savory Cook is responsible for preparing high‑quality, savory foods including soups, salads, entrées, and other prepared items in accordance with Hungry Moose standards. This role focuses on efficient production, consistency, food safety, and teamwork while contributing to a positive and respectful kitchen environment. The Savory Cook works collaboratively with the deli and prep teams, follows established recipes and production schedules, and supports continuous improvement in product quality, creative seasonal offerings, and cost‑effective food preparation. Follow standardized recipes and plating guidelines to ensure consistency and quality. Label, date, stock, and store ingredients and finished products according to food safety standards. Execute special orders accurately and efficiently. Ensure all food items are properly stored and rotated. Quality, Safety & Compliance Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and Health Department regulations. Complete and maintain required Food Handler Safety Certification. Adhere to all store policies, safety procedures, and security measures. Support cleanliness of work areas, including dishes, trash removal, composting, and recycling. Teamwork & Collaboration Reinforce clear communication and collaboration between coworkers and departments. Engage in professional, respectful communication using verbal, written, and body language. Assist with cross‑utilization of products between Town Center and Mountain locations as needed. Attend and participate in department and storewide meetings and trainings. Support a positive and inclusive work environment. Operational Support & Development Follow daily prep lists and complete projects accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision. Assist with ordering food, ingredients, and supplies as directed. Contribute ideas for recipe development, menu changes, and seasonal adjustments with attention to cost effectiveness. Support standardization of recipes and presentations. Maintain reliable and consistent attendance. Rotate through cashier duties as required and maintain Alcohol Serving Safety Certification. Required Qualifications Previous experience in a kitchen, deli, or food preparation environment. Demonstrated experience following recipes, prep lists, and food safety procedures. Deep familiarity with basic kitchen equipment and food prep tools. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to complete required food safety and alcohol service certifications. Preferred Qualifications Experienced in preparing soups, salads, or hot foods in a retail or scratch kitchen Familiarity with batch cooking or production kitchens The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a dependable, detail‑oriented cook who enjoys preparing fresh, savory food and takes pride in consistency and quality.
