Job Description

Regional West Medical Center is seeking a dependable and skilled Cook to join our Food Services Team. This role plays a vital part in preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals that support the health and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors. Working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, the Cook ensures meals are prepared safely, accurately, and on time while following physician-ordered diets, dietary restrictions, and food safety standards.

A Day in the Life As a Cook, your day begins by reviewing production schedules, diet orders, and menu requirements to ensure every meal meets clinical and nutritional guidelines. You prepare, cook, and portion meals according to standardized recipes and therapeutic diet needs, paying close attention to detail so each tray is accurate and appropriate for the individual patient.

Throughout your shift, you maintain a strong focus on food quality, presentation, and temperature control while working efficiently in a dynamic kitchen environment. You operate and clean a variety of kitchen equipment safely and help ensure all food is stored, labeled, and rotated properly to maintain freshness and compliance.

You collaborate closely with staff, dietitians, and other team members to ensure patient satisfaction and nutritional accuracy. Whether youre assisting with tray line operations, supporting caf service, or helping with special events, you step in where needed to keep operations running smoothly.

You also play an important role in maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen by following strict food safety, infection control, and sanitation protocols. From completing cleaning assignments to adhering to HACCP guidelines, you help ensure a safe environment for both patients and staff.

By the end of your day, youve contributed to delivering meals that not only meet healthcare standards but also enhance the patient experience through care, consistency, and quality.
