Kitchen Cook Griot Cafe Jersey City, NJ Job Details Part-time | Full-time $17 - $18 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Kitchen health and safety standards Food production FIFO Plating Kitchen stations Full Job Description Cook and plate orders accurately and efficiently Ensure food is prepared and presented consistently to restaurant standards Keep kitchen stations clean and sanitized; wash dishes and equipment at the end of each shift Clean and maintain kitchen equipment (e.g., fryers, grills, ovens) Stock and set up kitchen stations during slow periods and before the next shift Receive and inspect deliveries, checking for quality and correct quantities Conduct regular inventory checks of ingredients and supplies; cook and prep food components in advance (e.g., proteins, fillings) to maintain stock levels and ensure orders are fulfilled promptly Label and date prepped food items following FIFO (first in, first out) guidelines Assist other staff during peak hours as needed Summary As a , you will contribute to delivering high-quality food service and culinary experiences. Reporting to the kitchen/restaurant leadership, you will apply core skills in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen operations to ensure efficient meal production and consistent quality. You'll uphold food safety and sanitation standards while supporting accurate order fulfillment and stock management. Your premium skills in menu planning and dietary department experience will enhance meal options and dietary accommodations. Your role is vital to maintaining a well-organized kitchen and exceptional guest service.
