About us Living on the Veg is an independently owned vegan restaurant that has served the Manahawkin community for more than 20 years. We are looking for an experienced, dependable line cook to join our small kitchen team. Vegan cooking experience is not required—we can teach our menu. We need someone who can follow established recipes, stay organized during busy service and become someone the team can genuinely rely on.
Compensation and benefits:
$18-$20 per hour, based on relevant experience Shared tips 25-35 hours per week Paid training and NJ earned sick time Shift meal and employee discount No late-night hours; closing shifts generally end around 8:30 p.m. Availability must include Thursday, Friday and Saturday, including some closing shifts. A consistent regular schedule will be established before hire.
Responsibilities:
Prepare sandwiches, salads, wraps, bowls and other menu items accurately and efficiently Complete daily prep according to recipes and portion standards Keep the line clean, stocked and organized Follow food-safety, allergy and cross-contamination procedures exactly Communicate clearly during busy service Assist with dishes, cleaning, stocking and closing as needed
Qualifications:
At least one year of recent restaurant or commercial-kitchen experience Experience working a line during busy service Dependable attendance and transportation Ability to work independently after training Strong attention to cleanliness, organization and ticket accuracy Ability to respond professionally to direction and correction Qualified applicants will complete a short phone interview followed by a paid working interview.
