Nicholas Creamery is a small batch, locally-focused ice cream company known for crafting premium, handcrafted flavors using high-quality ingredients. We're passionate about our community, our product, and our people — and we're looking for a detail-oriented, motivated Food Prep Assistant to join our production team.Job Summary:
The Food Prep Assistant will support our kitchen and production team in the preparation and assembly of a variety of components used in our small batch ice cream products. This includes making house-made toppings, baking cakes and cookies, assembling inclusions, and ensuring a clean and organized work environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, able to follow recipes accurately, and maintains high standards of food safety and cleanliness.Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and assemble ingredients for ice cream inclusions, including baking cookies, cakes, and other toppings. Assist in the production and assembly of specialty items (e.g., ice cream cakes, sandwiches). Clean, sanitize, and maintain kitchen equipment, tools, and workspaces according to company and health department standards. Receive, unpack, and organize deliveries; rotate stock and maintain inventory order. Follow standardized recipes and procedures to ensure consistency and quality. Assist other team members as needed with general production and prep tasks. Maintain a clean and safe work environment throughout the shift. Monitor ingredient levels and report shortages or low inventory. Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations and company policies.Qualifications:
Required:
Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to follow recipes and written/verbal instructions. Strong attention to detail and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-oriented kitchen environment.Preferred:
Prior experience in food production, prep cook roles, or ice cream manufacturing. Familiarity with bulk food preparation and handling commercial kitchen equipment.Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift). Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working in both warm and cold environments. Manual dexterity for food prep tasks and equipment handling.Schedule & Compensation:
