MEA, named by The New York Times as "the world's first midlife wisdom school," provides 5-day workshops where participants, together with a team of MEA facilitators explore topics revolving around transitions, finding purpose, and owning wisdom, under the principle that wisdom is shared, not taught. Participants spend their time over the workshop in a combination of classroom and experiential modules, in the comfort of upscale accommodations that one could expect from a luxury boutique hotel.

JOB SUMMARY

The Cook will report directly to the Kitchen Manager. This position will execute daily F&B operations of our Santa Fe campus in Lamy. The Cook is responsible for executing the day's menu, following recipes and instructions from the chefs, while maintaining a clean, safe and organized work area and upholding the highest food safety and sanitation standards. Due to the current needs of our workshop guests, full weekend availability is required for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure the freshness and safe storage of ingredients. Follow recipes and instructions from the executive chef. Take instruction from the Chef in technique and food safety practices. Coordinate the week's prep schedule with the executive chef. Thoroughly clean and sanitize the workspace and equipment. Carefully and artfully present the food to the public.

REQUIREMENTS

A collaborative & creative working style. Excellent communication skills, works well as a team player. Ability to work flexible hours with a schedule. Weekend availability is required. Ability to pivot and problem solve in a fast paced kitchen environment. Willing to take direction, try new things, take on new challenges. Previous experience as a banquet cook or similar position preferred. Current Food Handler's Card issued by a state accredited institution.

The person having this position may have to sit, stand and/or walk, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for eight (8) hours per day. This position is on a Ranch with livestock & hay. Allergies or health concerns related to any allergens that might be problematic on the ranch could be a disqualifying factor for this position. The position is mainly onsite. The team member is expected to work 30-40 hours a week, days and hours based on the needs of scheduled programming. The team member may expect calls or emails outside of scheduled working hours. Occasional travel may be required for learning opportunities, team meetings, or other events.
