About Us Welcome to Downshift Brewing Company. Founded in Ruidoso, New Mexico in 2021, our goal is simple: to "downshift" and create a place where people can slow down, connect, and enjoy great beer, food, and company. We're a family-owned, community-driven brewery passionate about craft beer, hospitality, and creating memorable experiences. Our beers are inspired by the culture and landscape of New Mexico, blending classic styles with our own creative approach. Kitchen Staff Responsibilities Prepare ingredients (wash, peel, chop, portion) Assist with cooking and assembling menu items Set up and stock workstations with necessary tools and ingredients Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked stations throughout service Ensure proper food presentation before service Follow all food safety, sanitation, and cross-contamination procedures Store food and supplies properly, labeling and dating as required Work collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth kitchen operations Be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed Safety & Compliance Maintain strict adherence to all food safety and sanitation standards Follow proper handling, storage, labeling, and temperature control procedures Prevent cross-contamination and practice safe food handling at all times Keep work areas clean, sanitized, and hazard-free Immediately report any safety concerns, equipment issues, or health risks Comply with all local health department regulations and company policies Qualifications Valid Food Handler Certification, or the ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe in accordance with local regulations Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation; willingness to learn and follow established procedures Understanding of and commitment to food safety and sanitation standards Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and a hospitality-focused attitude Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation Ability to stand, walk, bend, and remain on feet for extended periods of time Ability to work in a kitchen environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, and kitchen equipment Ability to perform repetitive tasks and maintain productivity during peak service periods
