Job Summary The Child Care Center Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for children in a safe and hygienic environment. This role requires a passion for cooking, an understanding of dietary needs, and the ability to create menus that cater to the preferences and nutritional requirements of young children. The Cook will collaborate with the dietary department to ensure that all meals meet established food safety standards and guidelines. Duties Prepare daily meals and snacks for children, ensuring they are nutritious and well-balanced. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations. Ensure that standardized recipes are followed, and appropriate quantities of food are prepared and served in accordance with the meal requirements Manage inventory of food supplies Collaborate with staff to accommodate special dietary needs or restrictions for individual children. Ensure proper storage of food items, including labeling and dating per safety protocols. Monitor food quality during preparation and service, making adjustments as needed to meet standards. Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen area including all storage areas and refrigerators. Skills Experience in the restaurant or food industry, preferably in a child care or educational setting. Familiarity with meal preparation processes, including portion control and presentation. Experience working with and around children. Experience ordering food in large quantities in order to have all necessary items. Understanding of food safety regulations and best practices in a culinary environment. Ability to work collaboratively within a team while maintaining a positive attitude. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in meal planning and kitchen management. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about cooking for children and committed to providing healthy meals that support their growth and development.
