05/27/2026 4:34 PM The Nanuet Union Free School District is seeking a candidate to work in our Food Services Department. Job Description This is routine work involving responsibility for the preparation, cooking and baking of foods in a school environment. The work is performed independently according to standard procedures and under the general supervision of a higher-level food service supervisor. Work guidance (e.g., lead work) may be exercised over others. Does related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. One (1) year of work experience which involved cooking or food preparation within a public or institutional setting (e.g., restaurants, cafeterias, catering services, or similar environments)•; or 2. Graduation from a vocational or technical high school with a concentration in culinary arts or from a culinary program in a post-secondary school; or 3. An Associate's degree or higher in Culinary Arts or comparable degree. •Experience gained solely in a private or home setting will not be considered sufficient.
Other Requirements and Information:
Good knowledge of public or institutional preparation and cooking methods; working knowledge of the nutritional aspects of food and dietary needs; working knowledge of cooking utensils, appliances and equipment; ability to utilize supplies, equipment and ingredients efficiently; ability to direct the work of others; ability to understand and carry out both oral and written directions; ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
