Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Cook prepares and cook meats, fish, vegetables, soups and other products as well as prepare and portion food products prior to cooking. This position performs other duties in all areas of the kitchen including dish area when needed. They may prepare food as a line cook on order to order basis or may prepare large quantities of food in a cafeteria setting. Cook 2 assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods. Cook 2 is also responsible for setting up prep stations, stocking inventory and maintaining sanitation standards. Must be available to work weekends, nights and holidays.
ESSSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES
Prepares, seasons, and cooks' food Ensures that prep stations are stocked Prepares simple components of each dish on prep list provided by the Chef Carves portions of meat, fish, or fowl for individual servings Ensures food and prep areas meet health and safety standards Assists in preparing, cooking, and storing food, as well as maintaining kitchen and storage facilities in sanitary condition
SECONDARY DUTIES
Unloads all incoming stock, prepares boxes for storage and utilizes proper rotation of all products. Handles issues and problems and refers to higher level staff when needed Provides minimal leadership and coaching to subordinate staff Fills in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations Helps maintain, clean and stock of coffee and vending areas throughout the entire campus Oversees ordering, monitoring and rotating stock for the coffee and vending areas throughout the campus EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma with a ServSafe Certification, Level 2 ODH Certification and 2-4 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
COMPETENCY/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Advanced ability to develop and learn from others Strong decision-making and organizational skills Eminent ability to work to supervisor's instructions Proficient oral communication and creative skills High aptitude for multi-tasking Basic Computer Skills
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with training of new staff.
